Plan With Youth!

During the March 2012 Education in Emergencies meeting, we discussed the challenges faced by youth in both sudden onset and protracted emergency settings. While the challenges faced might be complicated by the emergency context, they are not unlike those faced by young people between the ages of 16 and 24 across the globe.

UNESCO/IIEP is hosting a meeting, October 16th to the 18th on Paris, France to look at ways we can, together with young people, begin to address some of these issues.

The objective of the Policy Forum is to strengthen the dialogue between young people, policy-makers, practitioners, and researchers to promote meaningful youth engagement within different levels of formal and non-formal education and training sectors.

You can read more about the event here.

For those of us who aren’t able to make the trip to Paris, the organizers of the event are hosting an on-line forum for youth to have their say. They have also developed a set of guidelines for engaging young people in the process. You can download the guidelines here.

We’d love to hear feedback from member of the EiEWG who engage with the event. Please drop us a note and let us know about your work so we might share with the wider group.
